Westfalia Recognized for Green Warehouse Automation Solution
YORK, PA — December 11, 2019 — Westfalia Technologies, Inc. (Westfalia), a leading provider of logistics solutions for manufacturers and distributors for over 25 years, has won its sixth consecutive Green Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive. Westfalia has been recognized for promoting sustainability through its “Go Green with High Density” warehouse automation solutions that enable clients to minimize their building footprint, lower energy usage and reduce waste production.
By implementing Westfalia’s “Go Green with High Density” warehouse automation solution, customers have attained significant results. Many are able to reduce their overall building footprint by up to 50 percent (versus conventional warehouses), while still expanding their storage capacity by 30-50 percent. These savings result in an average reduction of energy costs by 40 percent due to fewer interior lights, smaller wall penetrations for product movement to and from the AS/RS, and less space to heat and cool. With a lifespan of 30+ years, Westfalia’s AS/RS makes these savings sustainable well into the future. In addition, the operational accuracies provided by the company’s warehouse execution system (WES), Savanna.NET®, virtually eliminate product waste, errors and damage.
“Since Westfalia’s inception more than 25 years ago, we have been committed to helping our clients not only realize new operational efficiencies and cost savings, but also introduce green supply chain initiatives through warehouse automation,” Dan Labell, owner and president of Westfalia Technologies, said. “Moving forward, Westfalia will continue making environmental consciousness an integral part of our solutions and hope to inspire our clients to do the same.”
Now in its 12th year, The Green Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.
“Every year our Green Supply Chain Award recipients demonstrate what is achievable in supply chain sustainability.” “It is clear that while sustainability is not a new concept, there is always more we can accomplish.” says John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “We extend our congratulations to this year’s award recipients and their commitment to green initiatives.” “The entries serve as best-in-class examples for other companies to model and create value for their supply chains.”
Further expanding its commitment to green initiatives, Westfalia launched Westfalia’s parking solutions in 2016. These automated parking solutions increase parking capacity while using less square footage than a conventional parking garage by replacing traditional ramps with automated lifts and reducing the internal circulation space. In addition, cars are turned off before they enter the automated parking garage thereby reducing the amount of pollutants that end up in our atmosphere by 60 to 80 percent.
The official announcement of the awards will appear in the December 2019 Green Supply Chain Award issue of the magazine and online at www.SDCExec.com.
