Westfalia Receives Fifth Consecutive Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award
YORK, PA — December 11, 2018 — Westfalia Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of logistics solutions for plants, warehouses and distribution centers since 1992, has won its fifth consecutive Green Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The publication recognizes Westfalia for promoting sustainability through its “Go Green with High Density” warehouse automation solutions that enable clients to minimize their building footprint, lower energy usage and reduce waste production.
Many Westfalia customers have reduced their overall building footprint by up to 50 percent, while still expanding their storage capacity by 30 to 50 percent. This has resulted in an average energy cost reduction of 40 percent per facility. In addition, Westfalia’s automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) has an average lifespan of 25 to 30 years, making these savings sustainable, as the technology lasts well into the future.
Dan Labell, president, Westfalia Technologies, said, “For more than 25 years, Westfalia has helped manufacturers and distributors improve operational efficiency while minimizing their environmental impact by applying innovative technologies like our automated storage and retrieval system.”
The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. The award also recognizes providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.
This year’s 11th-annual awards recognize small, mid-size and large enterprises that leverage green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain.
“This year’s award recipients place a critical emphasis on green initiatives within their companies and supply chains,” said John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “Entries provide examples of innovative approaches and impressive metrics of sustainability programs.
“We congratulate this year’s honorees for their commitment to sustainability and recognize their tremendous achievements,” Yuva added. “Our honorees serve as role models for supply chains globally to expand their reach and impact of green leadership.”
