Effortless Parking: The Westfalia Way Forward

How Our Automated Parking Systems Work

Upon arrival at the parking facility, vehicles are automatically recognized by an automated identification system, such as a transponder. This triggers the Westfalia system to open the Transfer Area door, guiding the vehicle into the Transfer Area with clear instructions.

Once the vehicle is securely parked in the Transfer Area, the driver exits the vehicle, leaves the Transfer Area, and proceeds to swipe a fob or credit card at a kiosk conveniently located outside the transfer area. The driver is required to answer a short series of safety-related questions and confirm each response to ensure, for example, that all living things are removed, and the handbrake is pulled (if it has manual transmission) before the vehicle is stored.

The vehicle storage process involves sophisticated parking equipment, including Vehicle Lifts and Transfer Cars, that seamlessly transfer a vehicle to its designated parking space.

Retrieving a vehicle is just as streamlined, with the vehicle owner initiating the process via a kiosk, or smartphone app. A Transfer Car will retrieve the vehicle from its parking space, slide laterally and transfer the vehicle to a Vehicle Lift. The Vehicle Lift will ascend or descend to the Transfer Area and once safe to do so, the Transfer Area door is opened for all the passengers to get inside the vehicle and drive out.

Westfalia’s Transfer Areas are designed to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for guests while efficiently managing the parking process. Equipped with advanced sensing devices and LCD displays, it facilitates smooth vehicle transitions into the automated parking system.

Efficient vertical and horizontal vehicle movement

Automated Storage System

Westfalia’s automated storage system comprises of Vehicle Lifts, Transfer Cars, Turntables, and Satellites®, enabling vertical and horizontal movement of vehicles for efficient storage and retrieval.

The Vehicle Lifts provide vertical movement between storage levels.
Transfer Cars move horizontally to position vehicles in storage lanes.
Turntables rotate vehicles so they are forward facing upon retrieval.
Satellites® lift vehicles from Transfer Cars to store them in designated lanes.
Satellite® adjustable arms accommodate various vehicle wheelbases.

Robust and high-performance automated parking

Controls & Software

Westfalia’s robotic parking system relies on a robust control system for high availability and user-friendly operation, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Savanna.NET® Parking Controls System (PCS), and Human-Machine Interface (HMI).

PLC controls motors and interprets signals from sensors.
Savanna.NET® PCS issues instructions to machinery and manages data like mission logs and user information.
HMI allows operators to interface with machinery in different modes.
