Westfalia Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Service Technician to perform assigned and self-directed office and customer service in the field for stainless customers, as well as equipment installation.   This is an opportunity to join a positive team environment in a growing company.  This is an hourly position reporting to the Service Manager with the Service Department. 

Job Duties:

  • Provide customer service, mechanical and electrical service for automated machinery and installations in the field on scheduled and unscheduled trips to customer locations.

  • Follow through on all situations, bringing them to a satisfactory solution.

  • Provide 24/7 telephone support for mechanical / electrical problems based on rotation schedule within department.

  • Address and respond to all inquires, comments, questions, and complaints immediately by providing solutions and/or sharing the information with the Service Manager or another appropriate employee. 

  • Accept and forward parts orders to parts sales staff maintaining continuous follow up.

Non-essential Functions - Job Duties:

  • Cross train to assist the service department in the field of Automated Storage Retrieval Systems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned not to exclude production shop when no service work is available.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 6 years experience as a Service Technician or similar job duties

  • Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical fields with a strong ability to troubleshoot stainless packaging equipment within the dairy industry.

  • Knowledge and experience with hand tools, power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic automations systems, PLC’s DeviceNet, motors, VFD drives, relays, and sensors.

  • Experience in using multimeters and/or oscilloscopes.

  • Able to read drawings and schematics.

  • Able to weld stainless steel is a plus.

  • Experience in rigging and climbing in structures up to 150 feet.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with ability to communicate to all levels.

  • Ability to perform physical labor and work in an office environment. Working environment in the field may include chemical or freezer warehouses at customer sites.

  • Cross train with fellow service department employees.

  • Follow internal and external Safety standards and department procedures.  Suggest improvements on Safety, documentation, forms, procedures, and communication.

  • Passport and valid drivers license with transportation is required.  Travel may be abroad.

  • Work hours may include weekend and overnight for service calls and service trips.  Travel could be up to 80% depending on the nature of the business and scheduled field activities.

  • Overtime is required.
